Let me start by saying you must read the preface..I have never read a book that is front the one set so inspirational with out reading through the book itself..If only for the words of the author Myke Cole in his preface, it is a book truly worth possessing.His style of writing brings to life a bygone era in military history and the manner in which he develops the subject of the conflict of the Roman-Greeco empires is amazing.It is not complicated but intriguing..I have read the works of many respected military history authors but this one, is in my opinion is amongst the finest pieces of miltary history I have come across..If you have ever read the Great Siege of Malta 1566 or The Roman Invasion of Britain by Leonard Cottrell, then you may understand where I am coming from.His detail in this work is both meticulous yet reader friendly..If you actually what to understand how Rome defeated the powerful armies of Greece, the changes in weapons and tactics in the age of sword and spear then read this book.
