This is one of Michael Phillips' finest! This book covers an extensive time frame of the history of Scotland, while at the same time including a story line from the current era. Mr. Phillips reverts back and forth from Sc otland's history to the current-day plot in such a way you can't hardly put the book down. Typical of Mr. Phillips' style, there's a lot of detail and interweaving of characters, but he writes in such a way you don't get bored and can hardly wait for where he's taking you next! And there's a sequel! -- An Ancient Strife -- which completes the history part as well as the current-day story line. An excellent duet, especially for those who love history in a novel setting! I recommend them highly!
