This is the story of retired Justice of the US Supreme Court - Sandra Day O'Connor's family; operating a cattle/horse ranch on the border of Southern Arizona and New Mexico from 1880 until the mid 1900's.
I had read it some years back; repurchased it and recently read it again. It is a truly interesting story about what life was like for ranching families trying to survive in the hot, dry areas of the SouthWest.
It tells about life using horses for travel and work, windmills to pump water and doing everything yourself. It tells about her Dad and Mom, her sister and brother and about all the wranglers who lived and worked there for many years.
It includes a great deal of information about the difficulty in raising and training horses, caring for cattle, and the business side of ranching.
