Humorous and Descriptive of Borneo
This "Land Below the Wind" is the prequel to the Keith's capture by the Japanese and worlds away from the drums of war and civilization. I first read Keith's book "Three Came Home" a number of years ago and loved her descriptive, both horrendous and humorous, story of living in a Japanese civilian prisoner of war camp with her son and separated from her husband. Keith can paint pictures with writing ease such that you can feel the jungle heat, the bite of mosquitoes, the fight for survival, and see the beauty of the natives and their jungle. A very enjoyable read.
Highly recommend both works by Agnes Newton Keith.
