Navy blue clothlined and decorated in white and lettered in gilt; top edge gilt, other edges uncut. xl +503 and xiii+ 542 pp. with index. Illustrated by upwards of 100 plates including eight in color and onein photogravure. Tight, bright near fine set, minimal rubbing to some of the white stamping to the cloth. Lady Charlotte Schreiber (earlier Lady Guest and nee Charlotte Bertie; 1812-1895) was a noted British author, translator and businesswoman, famed for her work in studying Welsh language and literature. She btranslated from Welsh into English several mediaval tales that she published under the title "Mabinogion". She and her husband were also noted collectors of ceramics and these journals chronicle their travels and adventures in collecting through Great Britian and Europe from 1869 to 1885. A very nice set indeed.
