Glorious guilty pleasure
One of the very best of the 1980's epic bonk-busters that I remember reading (in secret!) as a teenager. Sex, betrayal, blackmail, couture fashion, class, international jet-setting, food, big business... spanning a few decades, this book has them all! Plus the five female characters are great - not a shred of political correctness in the whole book but some nice feminist and sisterhood moments nonetheless. They are all based on real people too, so lots of fun trying to identify them. Yes its absolute tripe in one way, but an enjoyable read in another! Far superior to Krantz or Collins in my opinion, and infinitely better than the terrible mini-series. I've never quite been able to look a goldfish in the eye since...
