This book features 37 plates (all of them annotated prior to their presentation) illustrating architecture, sculpture and some artwork. Two plates have a very old repair tothe top, not affecting the image. A description of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Florence Cathedral-Il Duomo), designed by Arnolfo di Cambio (1296), completed by Brunelleschi, and consecrated in 1436, illustrated with thirty-eight engravings showing basreliefs, monuments, architectural plans and views. The text is based on Giovanni Batista Clemente Nelli"s publication of 1755, the plates being reduced copies of those by Bernardo Sgrilli. (Courtesy of D & E Lake, Booksellers).
