Le texte est une adaptation libre de la chronique latine de Baudri de Bourgueil redigee vers 1108 et reflete les changements politiques et sociaux du debut du 13e siecle. Il offre des perspectives interessantes aux etudes litteraires, a l'histoire des mentalites et a l'etude de la reception historiographique au Moyen Age.
