I first read KING ARTHUR FOR BOYS when I was about 10 years old, and it changed my life. The ideals of Christian chivalry it impressed upon me sustained me through the "dark ages" of college doubt, and created within my a fascination with medievalism that has lasted a lifetime. I've read dozens of renderings of the King Arthur story since then, but Gilbert's is the best. I've read it to my children and am passing it on to my grandchildren.
