It was these performances that resulted in a renaissance in Ory's career after more than a decade of obscurity. The tailgate trombonist shares the frontline with trumpeter Mutt Carey and clarinetist Jimmie Noone on the first five selections. Noone's sudden death resulted in him being replaced first by Wade Whaley and Barney Bigard before Joe Darensburg became the band's permanent clarinetist. The final five numbers on this set originate from a different series of broadcasts in early 1945.
