But when Lee's escort is ambushed and murdered, leaving him alone, he's forced to continue on to the next village where he's taken in and slowly comes to see the complexity of life in Afghanistan and the likely futility of his mission. That is, until his rescuers introduce him to Major Bridges, a brilliant leader who has a dream of nation-building that goes beyond anything dreamed of in the State or Defense Departments. Crazy?
