That means this is devoted to songs from the mid-'80s, from defining songs like Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" to such great power pop revivals as Dwight Twilley's "Girls." Between those two extremes are some definitive singles of the '80s -- Wang Chung's amazing, cool "Dance Hall Days," the Bangles' '60s-spangled "Hero Takes a Fall," Nik Kershaw's underrated "Wouldn't It Be Good," Thompson Twins' "Hold Me Now," Bananarama's best song, "Cruel Summer," the Bus Boys' Ghostbusters anthem, "Cleanin' Up the Town," and Echo & the Bunnymen's haunting "The Killing Moon," possibly the best song they ever recorded. The other songs on this collection don't quite meet this standard -- even the '80s protest anthem "Free Nelson Mandela" by the Special AKA -- but they're still good and, when surrounded by such classics as the aforementioned singles, they sound even better.
