The book of Micah revolves around two main topics, judgement, and restoration; inspiring both fear and hope in the hearts of His errant children.Reading through Micah brings vivid pictures to my mind of our world the way it is right now. I hear His impassioned plea for God's people to repent. And it cuts me to the quick. I look around and see the violence, the hate in our society. I see his indignation over the ways in which the rich and powerful use every opportunity to exploit the poor and the weak as do our leaders now. I see malicious and intentional evil carried out by many. But then there is the majority, those who do not decide intentionally to cut people down and carry out injustice. But still, they do, out of habit, out of learned, worldly behaviors, unbecoming to children of God. Then finally, this book is wrapped up not only in the colorful package of restoration, but has a bright, shiny bow of hope and joy placed jauntily on top of that splendid package! When His people finally repent and turn from their wickedness, He opens wide His arms of love and welcomes them back home!
