The first part contains analyses of the original German texts that focus on stylistic issues and provide various options for approaching the question of Roth's style. Within the broad field of stylistics with its competing trends, these analyses are faced with the basic question of what style actually is and how and for what purpose it can be analyzed. In the second part of the book, these theoretical approaches are extended and put to the test by analyses of Roth translations. Personal accounts given by Roth translators in part three reveal the crucial role of translators not only as linguistic transcribers but also in their function as communicators of time and culture. German description: Der vorliegende Band bietet mit linguistischen, literatur- und ubersetzungswissenschaftlichen Analysen der stilistischen Besonderheiten Joseph Roths (1895-1939) interdisziplinare Perspektiven auf einen der meist ubersetzten deutschsprachigen Autoren des 20.
