The story centers around UK, a young fellow who leaves his home to live in sophisticated Harrare and work as a personal courier for his uncle, a famous pop star. One day, UK receives a visit from the jukwa , or family guardian spirit, a rather boozy female visage who prickles UK's conscience and encourages him to get a real job and start sending money to his family back home. UK listens and begins working as a nightclub waiter. It is there that the youth meets and falls in love with Sofi, the lovely moll. One night UK saves Sofi from a masher. Unfortunately, he ends up knocked unconscious. When he finally awakens he finds Sofi's lovely arms around him and blissfully UK asks for her hand. Serious about his proposal, he visits her father. Unfortunately, the old man states that Sofi's dowry is a new stereo.
