Black and white illustrations by Henry E. Vallely. Front hinge partially cracked, but still strong. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with minor fraying at tips. Covers have light surface and edge wear. Gift inscription on front free endpaper, dated 1945. Pages moderately tanned, more so at periphery, but still supple. Two sections of 10 pages have a diagonal wrinkle near the top outer corner, and the page edges at that corner are slightly misaligned. 248 pages. Dust jacket has overall surface rubbing, chipped and nicked edges, and small tears. "Authorized edition" Whitman # 2301.
