This is a terribly racist and embarrasingly poorly written history. The only area of interest is what Virginia professionals and the UNC were willing to publish in the 1930's-self-serving gibberish justifying slavery and their cause. Why, when it was reprinted in 1986 in the wake of civil war enthusiasm generated by The Killer Angels, a forward warning discerning readers wasn't included.
