Jackie Kennedy modernized the role of First Lady while adhering to traditional hostess duties -- but also served as a helpmate to JFK, with her gift for languages, all the while looking like a movie star -- here we see the sumptuous clothes - and how her timeless elegance sent a message that America was no longer Europe's country cousin. It really was Camelot
I was a child when the Kennedys were in the White House and I remembered Jacqueline Kennedy as cool, smart and beautiful. This book confirms that. It pays tribute to her style, her personality and the idea that clothes can be art, philosophy and political statement. If you're old enough, read it to remember. If you're not that old, read it so you'll understand why people compare Michelle Obama to Jackie Kennedy and why it's accurate.
