Crime experts, Rumbelow and Evans, team up to approach, again, the Jack the Ripper case. This is not a particularly good book for someone first encountering the whitechapel crimes. Both of the authors have excellent, straightforward books about the ripper. This book presents the problems facing the police in dealing with bureaucracy, a hostile public, a reckless press etc. For those interested in this case, the authors go back to actual police documents to dispell myths that have been misleading researchers and readers for over a hundred years.
