This book is *such* a classic. I enjoyed it very much. It's a utopian fantasy about an unknown island in the south seas, whose people have very different social values, working to keep their mostly agrarian ways in the face of an alien religion (Catholicism) and alien cultures (U.S. and Germany).
There are other well done stories in the same culture by Mark Saxton, who edited Islandia itself.
