Wilcox, and pages 49-350 "The Fishes of Porto Rico" by Barton Warren Evermann and Millard Caleb Marsh. 49 high quality chromolithographs of ocean creatures which "accurately represent the brilliant coloration of some of the fishes of this interesting region". 17 by C.B. Hudson. Charles Bradford Hudson is an artist listed in Ray Davenport's "Art Reference and Price Guide". Hudson lived from 1865-1939. The remaining 32 colored lithographs are by A. H. Baldwin. The colored lithographs are printed by Julius Bien and Co. N.Y. Three large fold-out maps bound in at back. Numerous engravings. 117 figures. This is a report on the investigation of the waters about Porto Rico, specifically its fishery resources and aquatic fauna, shortly after its acquisition by the United States. In Dec. 1898 the steamer Fish Hawk with a qualified crew of specialists, left for the region to collect animal specimens until February of 1899 thereby greatly increasing the knowledge of marine life in the West Indies.
