Poor reproduction quality on poor paper. The pompous, precious writing was the art criticism equivalent of psychobabble. I own 22 books about Ingres; this one is by far the worst. It was designed with little or no taste and is just generally ugly--as if not put together by a rational adult but by a kid during play period in kindergarten.
