I devoured this easy-to-read book, once, then twice; I made a list of topics covered with their page numbers (such as: sleep, worry, comfort, singing, retirement, works without Jesus, salvation, mother's poetry, women serving husbands, fear of death, shopping, cooking, courtship, etc.). Many of the topics were humorous, some sad, but all were upbeat and interesting. I made a list of things that the author instigated or accomplished in her striving in a new city, alone, with a disability. Finally, the last list covered people that she met along the way who tried to discourage her and how she was affected by them. After all of this, I would call different friends from time to time, just to read parts of the book that were encouraging and humorous. The author even gave Scriptures that had ministered to her along the way, which were a blessing to read. Yes, I loved the book! Even without having a disability myself, I found "In the Shadow of His Hand" most inspiring and spiritually encouraging.
