S'POAS theer havn't bin much change in this yer Cove fur a braave wiles now. Theer al'ys was the baich fur boats to lie upon, an' the say to luk upon, an' grate black rocks fur th' birds to nesty in. Year in an' year out theer they be sure enuf. Then theer's the grate hill to clim auver, an' 'pin tap ov 'ee theer's Churchtown, an' thin moar hills 'till yu do cum to the sky a'moast. Now p'pl have tuk to vlyin' they can drap down 'pon uz vrom the clouds' like birds. Theee's moar places like it, they do tell, but I do knaw this wan bestest, fur sartin I do, 'caus heer I was born'd an' heer, plaise father, I'll shet my eyes. I have a'heerd p'ple zay this ere Cove is a whisht ould place to live in; and I wud'n zay but 'tes to them as doan't knaw. Seem'th to me 'tes oal fancy, like aitin' an' drinkin' an' the wearin' of cloas. 'Tes jes' as well, to my thinkin', that fancies differ, or theer's a pure lot ov maidens wud'n be kissed in the dark, nor nowheers else, I can 'sure 'ee. Well, this is our Cove, an' if theer is any vally in being anshent we'm precious. They do zay that p'pl do travel a pure bit these days to zee anshent places, and I s'poas that's why so many comes heer an'lukes around an' off to go agin; but zum do stap a bit, an' pent picturs, jes' to shaw how cliver they be. But we don't mind they, 'cause they cum an' go like the tide an' leave everything as 'twas avore. The baich an' the say, the rocks an' the birds do belong to we, an' 'tes a pore 'art as wud'n zay to oal the wurld-"Cum an' zee, if yu be zo minded."
