I used to think God was an abstract being - someone I could learn about but not someone who takes an active part in my life. To be honest, I don't know where I got this idea. The God of the Bible is the God who speaks! This book highlights the special place we have in God's heart. It explains how to recognize His voice and how to embrace our Divine calling. Knowing who we are is the key to living a fruitful life. When we understand who we are and Whose we are, we will have no reservations trusting God when He speaks. Even if He tells us to take a radical step of faith, we can put our lives in His hands because we know His plan is always best. Am I suggesting that living for God is easy? Absolutely not! It is anything but easy. God tells us to come and die! He bids us to lay down our lives and take up our cross. When we exchange our life for His, we find ourselves going in a direction we would not naturally choose. This seems a bit strange at first, but as we learn to walk with Him, we find ourselves in the middle of an amazing adventure. We discover excitement in everyday living as well as a sense of divine purpose. Although costly at times, it comes with no regret. Not only does the Lord promise eternal life, but He also leads us to a fulfilled destiny here on earth. Trust me friends, this is more than we could ever ask or think! This is the God of the Bible. This is the God who died for our sins. This is the God who gives His Spirit freely. This is the God who says to humanity... "Come, follow Me."
