Jean Guillous' Improvisations isn't quite as adventurous as its title implies, but it nevertheless is considerably more experimental than the average classical Christmas album. Guillous takes the melodies of such tunes as "Jingle Bells" and "The First Noel" as a foundation, then sets out to turn them into toccatas, rondos, litanies and the like. It's a very interesting attack, and each track has something to offer, especially for adventurous listeners. ~ Rodney Batdorf, Rovi
