This is the first book I read by Erma Bombeck and this book really took my interest. She not only used the perspective of herself but the children as well. I like how added artwork and entries from the kids into her book. This book gave me a different outlook on cancer. Before I just thought it was something a few unlucky people got. I knew nothing about the subject and didn?t care enough to find out. This book educated me on what cancer is and at the same she made me feel for the children who had it. I felt happy not because the children had cancer but because they survived it, and treated as if it was just a pimple on a face; they dealt with it and when it was timed to be popped, they popped it. Learning about the successes of the children with cancer gave me hope for my own problems. Erma Bombeck taught me that sometimes optimism is key by presenting optimistic views of the children
