The book explains human anatomy through a series of annotated prosections and detailed text. It is separated in chapters based on different sections of the body. Each chapter contains pictures of dissections with annotations of most structures (muscles, nerves, arteries, veins, organs, ligaments, lymph ducts, etc.), and descriptive text that explains the anatomy in detail. The dissection pictures are truly unique, much better and far more realistic than what you would find in Grey's Anatomy or in other books with cartoon illustrations. The text is detailed and verbose, but sometimes locating a term is not as easy (the index refers to a page, but then one must manually locate that term by glancing through the paragraphs in that page), because the text organization is not as good when it comes to using the book as a reference. Nevertheless, this book is an absolute must if you need to grasp all the details of human anatomy by looking at real prosections, while keeping things simple enough and manageable. Although there is a newer edition, this edition is equally good and still very up-to-date. Highly recommended as an introductory book to all medical students!
