The late Adele Margolis was a genius. I have read portions of this book and it is an excellent guide to not only fitting clothes but design features. While the illustrations are definitely early 1970's vintage, the methods she uses are timeless.

I am throughly enjoying this book, I am not a novice seamstress, this book bring out quite a few good suggestion that would make the experience seamstress work much better.

Must-Have for Serious Sewers
This book is the first of Adele Margolis's books, and is something of a preview of her next book, How to Design Your Own Dress Patterns.
This book has many in-depth lessons on how to measure a figure and why; how to recognize which fitting flaws cause which garment flaws; and how to remake a commercial pattern, or how to create your own.
I use this book for advanced sewing lessons. Since it is out-of-print, it is hard for me to provide each of my pupils with her own book, so I recommend it to everyone.
