Students getting ready to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language will find comprehensive preparation from Barron's. They can choose the test preparation manual according to any of these three options: -- The test preparation manual (book only) -- The book with compact discs that provide listening comprehension instruction -- The book with a CD-ROM that tests students under true-to-life test conditions The manual presents eight [?] full-length model TOEFL exams that reflect both current TOEFL formats: the Computer-Based Test and the older-style written test. Four [?] model tests are paper-and-pencil versions and the other four [?] are computer-based. [editor: is all of the above still the case?] The optional compact disc-and-book package provides the Listening Comprehension portions of all tests that are in the manual. The CD-ROM presents a practice TOEFL exam in the "computer adaptive" format, which is exactly the way the actual test is given. In this format, the difficulty of each test question is determined by the test-taker's performance in answering previous questions. Thus, the practice tests on Barron's CD-ROM are always unique for each use.
