This is a wonderful book by a wise old gardener about all the unnecessary work you can get up to in the garden and how to simplify and improve your gardening methods. By the sister of mystery-writer Rex Stout!

It's A Classic
This book is a must-read and must-have for anyone who is a serious gardener...or, even if you're not so serious, it is so funny that you'll love to read it anyway! I first read this book in northern Minnesota when I was six months pregnant with my second child. (My first was 4 years old.) I would have done anything to be able to garden more easily. As it happened, it was the middle of the worst drought they had had in zone 3 in a hundred years, and, without watering or weeding, I had a garden which was the envy of the neighbors. The price reflects how important this book is. It is too bad that it is out-of-print. Ruth Stout went on to write many other gardening books, and made some videos, at 90 years old, which are impossible to find because anyone who owns one won't give it up. I give this book to everyone I can.
