Passing next to sugar produced from the beet-root, it will be found that although repeated attempts have been made to establish this industry in England and the United States, it is yet mainly restricted to the states of Continental Eu rope, the centers oi production being, first, France; second, Germany; third, Russia; fourth, Belgium; with a notably smaller product in Austria and Holland, and very little in Sweden and Italy.
