Very Good. No Jacket. Book First Printing. 166 pages, indexed. Bound in brown cloth stamped in bright gilt. Picture of a mule stamped in gilt on front cover. Heavily illustrated in black and white. Book would be in fine condition except that a small illustration on page 41 has been removed, not affecting the text. A few pages have tape marks near the spine where notes were taped in at one time. Book is protected in a custom cut clear mylar cover. All books are carefully wrapped and shipped in a box.

Good+ No Jacket. 166 pages, plus 23 plates including frontispiece and folding plate. A full page engraving in the text, frequently counted as the 24th plate, is also present. Blind and gilt stamped buckram cloth covers show light wear at spine ends and very light wear at corners. Lettering remains bright. Light foxing on edges, as well as first and last few leaves. Solid and otherwise very clean copy.
