As evidenced by either reading Mötley Crüe's tell-all bio The Dirt or viewing their VH1 Driven special, the group London proved to be an important stepping stone for Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx. After all, it was while briefly being a member of London that Sixx got his first taste of rockin' and rollin' on Hollywood's Sunset Strip. And the group's leader, singer/guitarist Lizzie Grey, appeared in both Crüe-related items. After London folded, Grey launched an all-new outfit, Spiders & Snakes, which released numerous releases throughout the '90s and early 21st century. 2005 saw the release of the double-disc set Hollywood Ghosts -- one disc of 12 new studio tracks, and another of 15 music videos (spanning 1990 through 2004). Those expecting arena metal anthems à la the Crüe may be disappointed, since Grey touches upon several different styles here -- power pop ballads ("Angelyne"), a Stones-y cover of "The Girl Can't Help It," and a harmonica-laced ditty that recalls the glam days of Bowie and Bolan (the title track). Judging from Hollywood Ghosts, Grey has a much wider appreciation of various musical styles than the average '80s era glam rocker. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
