Not much of a departure from the other volumes in the Holiday Legends series, Happy Holidays keeps with the general theme of old-time vocal pop legends offering low-key performances of holiday fare. This particular volume focuses on easy listening renditions of holiday songs like "White Christmas" and "Jingle Bells." But don't expect all the usual holiday classics; for the most part, the songs featured here are somewhat obscure: "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," "Snowfall," "Auld Lang Syne," and "The Christmas Waltz" being a few examples of the sort of non-traditional holiday songs found here. In regard to performers, Happy Holidays indeed stays true to its Holiday Legends banner, featuring names like Jackie Gleason, Guy Lombardo, and Les Paul. While all of this no doubt sounds engaging -- easy listening renditions of untraditional holiday fare by well-known performers -- you do feel a bit cheated by the general lack of music here. There are only ten songs here, and of those ten, only three clock in over three minutes -- not exactly the amount of quantity you'd expect. Still, if you don't mind the abbreviated running time, Happy Holidays should satisfy anyone looking for this sort of easy listening holiday fare. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
