This book is well written and the subject of peer orientation is well explained with plenty of detail and examples. In hindsight I now have a much better grasp of why a family member had so many issues when she made her peers her family. I realize the error of my own ways as a parent and I hope in time to share this book with her. There is alot of grieving that parents go through when this happens to them and their children. What is surprising is that peer orientation can begin as early as age 7. Even with pre-school, peer orientation can be established because of the time spent with other children and not with the parents. An unconditional loving relationship is necessary for children to have with their parents. that is precisely why parents need to matter more than peers. A MUST READ.

Must read for parents teachers and coaches
This is one of the two most important books I have read (among scores) about family dynamic and child development. Well researched and practical in application, the authors suggest important dynamics in child behavior and make practical application that transcends parenting and disciplinary 'methods'. Well worth your time if you parent or teach children.
