He signs and inscribes the front flyleaf large and bold in blue ink: "Very truly yours, / J. Winston Coleman, Jr." Coleman (1898-1983) was a prolific Kentucky author and historian whose many books and dozens of pamphlets include "Masonry in the Bluegrass" (1933), "Slavery Times in Kentucky" (1940 and "A Bibliography of Kentucky History" (1949).
