El objetivo de este trabajo es reconocer tanto los s???ntomas y signos m???s frecuentes (hipotermia, alteraciones de la conciencia, fascie mixedematosa, alteraciones hemodin???micas, etc.) como los hallazgos de laboratorio m???s resaltantes entre los cuales tenemos hiponatremia, hipoxemia, hipercapnia, aumento de la tirotropina, disminuci???n de hormonas tiroideas; para realizar un diagn???stico precoz y mejorar la morbimortalidad de esta entidad, asegurando entonces, un manejo oportuno en una Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos (UCI), con monitorizaci???n, medidas de soporte cardiorespiratorias, correcci???n de hipotensi???n y de trastornos electrol???ticos.
