Actually, hip-hop is a generous and erroneous term here. The members of L.A. Symphony, G.R.I.T.S, Verbs, and Pettidee are certainly rappers, but John Reuben mixes faux pop-punk into his white-boy delivery, Tobymac sounds unfortunately similar to LFO, and Liquid has more of a neo-soul feel than anything else. While not all the artists perform praise songs, most at least namedrop God, and some are even sound reasonably talented when doing this, too. No, it may not be the best rap collection, but for someone wanting to listen to the genre while avoiding the "stereotypical" mainstream themes of women, money, and drugs and instead something that expresses their faith, Hip Hope Hits 2007 isn't a bad thing. ~ Marisa Brown, Rovi
