This is my very favorite picture book and as an elementary teacher, I have read quite a few. This book draws you into the experience of a young boy seeing a train for the very first time. That train was the magnificent Hiawatha which passed his grandparents house the first night he arrived. I remember being a very young child and moving to a house with railroad tracks just beyond the back yard. I never tired of watching the train go by and still love trains to this day. I am so sorry this book is no longer in print as it would be my gift of choice for the boys on my list. I am so very thankful to own a copy of this book.
