I was so looking forward to reading this book, and I must say, I was not disappointed...until the end. I felt the story ended quite ubruptly and I was left feeling a little disatisfied. I do love the way it was written though. I wish we could all speak in the fancy manner in which these characters speak.

Enjoyed this Book
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first book of this new series from author Rhys Bowen. I have read several from her series "Evans Above" etc. and thought they were just "okay". In this series, however, I was charmed and entertained by her characters who she cleverly cast in early 1900's London when the world was changing both with its attitudes and with its royalty. Although this series is light and fun, as her previous series, it has enough substance by way of historical renderings of that era, particularly in its descriptive observance of class behavior, to balance the comedic underpinnings of the story. The element of mystery is weak, but I don't believe that one really reads Rhys Bowen for a good mystery or suspense story. All in all, it was a lot of fun and a very enjoyable way to spend s Sunday afternoon. I will read the next in the series, "A Royal Pain".

funny and clever
This is the first title I've read by Rhys Bowen, and I'm very happy to have found her. She demonstrates a fantastic blend of chic British mystery style with a modern sensibility that manages to feel organic to the time period. I did pick out the bad guy relatively early, but it was fun reading, and I never felt like I was marking time just to feel vindicated at the end.
Enjoyable overtones of P.G. Wodehouse, Agatha Christie, Anne Perry, and Dorothy Sayers.
