Roman and Late Hellenistic Military Diffusion
The Thesis of this book is the Hellenistic Ptolemaic and Seleucid dynasties adaptation of Roman Military formations and weaponry.
The author (Secunda) grounds his thesis in archaeological findings and classical works that support it. A beautiful attribute that brings an interesting complexity to this work is the authors deliberation in whether these adaptations were successfully intergrated, or just a shallow mimic of the Roman way of Military.
Secunda supplies this book with illustrations that are the results of archaeological finds. I recommend this book for the specialist or the laymen.
The book reads well and is always interesting!
