Seller's Description:
Paperback in new condition. 219 pages. This collection of excerpts from the journals of Ravi Ravindra gives a glimpse of the extraordinary teaching of Madame Jeanne de Salzmann. In these recollections of a pupil, we hear Madame de Salzmann's voice; the clarity of her perception and the force of her insight are evident throughout. "There are three forces--of the body, mind and feeling. Unless these are together, equally developed and harmonized, a steady connection cannot be made with a higher force. Everything in the Work is a preparation for that connection. That is the aim of the work. The higher energy wishes to but cannot come down to the level of the body unless one works. Only by working can you fulfill your purpose and participate in the life of the cosmos. This is what can give meaning and significance to your life."--Jeanne de Salzmann. Mrs. de Salzmann was Gurdjieff's closest associate for many decades and she became the spiritual head of the Work after his death in 1949. She carried out this responsibility with remarkable energy and creativity until she died in 1990 at the age of 101. Under her leadership the Gurdjieff Foundations were established, connections between groups were strengthened, and Gurdjieff's writings were published. A spiritual master, she demonstrated a connection with subtle energies as she called and inspired pupils to work to fulfill their human responsibility.
