Binding is snug and square. interior is clean and unmarked, though lightly toned. Page edges are foxed somewhat at base. Front endpaper has previous owner's name in ink with date Feb. 1938. Flaps from original dust jacket are laid-in. A solid first edition. Author was a Czech lecturer at the University of Leipzig in 1912 who served on the Russian front in WWI. He is best known as a poet and essayist as well as for his novel, The Forty Days of Musa Dagh. This translation by Moray Firth.
