But when a would-be hero comes to kill off the remaining Gorgons, Chrysaor learns that Medusa was murdered by Perseus, who was under the orders of a god - but which one? He is also told he can revive Medusa if he can restore her head, which currently decorates the shield of Zeus, king of the gods. His quest takes him from the gloomy underworld of Hades, where he falls in love with the Fury Callirhoe, to the summit of Mount Olympus and earns him the undying enmity of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis. With Callirhoe's help he steals the Gorgon's head from the gods and restores his mother to life, but he is still faced with the task of finding and stopping their enemy before the latter strikes again. While investigating suspects, Chrysaor is also preparing for his marriage to Callirhoe. But the wedding is stopped by a battle between the gods and the giants, won with the help of Chrysaor and Medusa, and before he can be married Artemis turns Chrysaor into a deer and hunts him down with dogs.
