As one of its first black officers, Marshall was told by veteran officers that he was too small, too easygoing, and too polite to last.Marshall Thompson is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Doric Lodge #28 of Free and Accepted Masons, and St. Joseph African Methodist Episcopal Church in Durham, North Carolina. His first book, HAYTI POLICE, Memoirs of a Former Durham Police Officer, was published in 2001. His 2nd book, HAYTI SHORTS, A Collection of Daily Events By A Retired Policeman, was published in 2020.
