Hardcover. VG. Organized by Carol Lowrey. Preface by Marte Previti. Mostly comprised of illustrations and descriptive annotations. This 112-page exhibition catalogue presents the art of Hayley Lever (1876-1958), an Australian-born artist who painted in England, on the Cornish coast, before immigrating to New York in 1911. For the rest of his career, Lever painted harbor and littoral scenes in a lively Impressionist manner. His art was influenced by the work of Vincent Van Gogh and the Ashcan School. After first visiting Cape Ann, Massachusetts, in 1915, Lever made visited and painted in the port towns of Gloucester and Rockport; he also worked in Nantucket, the Canadian Maritimes, and the countrysides of New Jersey and Vermont. The most comprensive and scholarly study of Lever's art to date, the catalogue includes a biographical essay and entries by Carol Lowrey, a chronology, and forty full-page color illustrations. The exhibition was held at Spanierman Gallery, February 20-April 5, 2003"--with a bonus offer--
