The Oxford NRSV Study Bible has better notes. (Metzger, Coogan, etc) [In my opinion the Oxford Study Bibles have the best notation available if you are seeking an interdisciplinary, ecumenical, and scholarly Bible.] But, it's not better in every way. The Abingdon New Interpreter's Study Bible has the most notes but not necessarily better notes or more concise notes. The Scofield has some great extras but the notes are not as scholarly and it's not NRSV. However, this is my favorite study Bible because of all the extras that are included that you won't find in any other one Bible. First off, I love the chapter headings that give a brief synopsis (or title) to help you find the passage you are looking for in addition to the page, chapter, and verse numbers. Secondly, the print is easy to read and the book well organized. Thirdly, it has many great additions like a concordance, maps, tables, timeline, and illustrations. Overall this book does the most to help facilitate nondenominational Bible study in classes (or home, church) where you need to find something quickly and have lots of information in one place. [Choose Oxford or Abingdon if commentary is your main interest.]

Top three scholarly Study Bibles.
Abingdon New Interpreter's Study Bible has the best notes but the print is small, the paper is thin, and it has no concordance. The New Oxford Annotated Study Bible has the next best set of notes, the largest print, but no concordance. HarperCollins has improved on its previous edition by expanding the notes without enlarging the overall size of the book. They've reduced the print slightly, but made it darker, easier to read. The notes, articles and concordance are excellent. I own and read all three of these excellent study Bibles, which are based on the NRSV translation. These top of the line scholarly study Bibles give you the straight scoop, without denominational or theological spin. If you want a Bible that's more devotional, the Life Application Study Bible is the next best choice, but it comes with easier to read, less literal but fairly accurate NIV or NLT (2nd ed.) translations, not the NRSV. If you're serious about Bible study, you can't go wrong with HarperCollins.
