I absolutely LOVED this book! I had already read many mystery books by Michael McGarrity set in New Mexico. I used to live in New Mexico and enjoyed reading about the locales that I recognized. When I got this book in the mail I was astonished by the number of pages. But I was hooked just a few pages in. If you enjoy learning about the old west and how life really was, I would definitely suggest this read. I just finished Back Lands and am looking forward to getting The Last Ranch, the last in the trilogy.
