However, in an increasingly diverse culture, verbally-laden instruments cannot be used for many children and adults, including those with speech and/or language deficits, hearing impairments, emotional problems, as well as those who cannot be evaluated with tests which rely on standard English. The increase in cultural diversity requires school and mental health professionals to serve this growing community of nontraditional learners.
